Francis Eugene Paterson

Francis E. Paterson, 83, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Francis is survived by his wife, Joan of Fort Dodge; children, Victoria (Jimmy) Paterson of Laurens, Tina Hammer of Fort Dodge, Kathy (Darrel) Grossnickle of Lehigh, Darlett (Dean) Stinnett of Anthon, Kristin Powers of Polk City, James Paterson and Michael Paterson both of Fort Dodge; step- daughters, Nancy (Duane) Johnson of Waterford, WI, Sandra (Steve) Richardson and Janey (Mark) Marvin both of Fort Dodge; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved pets, Reggie and BB. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Eunice (Hayes) Paterson, by his first and second wives, Christina and Doris; infant son, Francis Paterson, Jr, infant daughter, Renee; and 2 brothers, Roy and David. Francis Eugene Paterson was born December 23, 1936 in Coalville, Iowa. He attended schools in Coalville and Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1956. After high school he drove truck for two years and Iowa Beef for 10 years. He then went to work for the City of Fort Dodge and retired in 1991 after working there for 17 years. He was a member of Riverside Methodist Church and the Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers Local Union. He spent winters in Mission, TX. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
