Frank Claude Nelson

Frank Nelson went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on June 23, 2013 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Shepherd, pastor of Otho United Methodist Church, officiating, Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 TODAY at the funeral home. Frank was born February 24, 1926 in Des Moines, the son of Oscar and Evelyn (Crouse) Nelson. At the age of 12 Frank moved to rural Otho, where the family farm was established. Frank was raised and educated in Otho. Frank was united in marriage to Dorothy Barnett in 1948 and they established their home on the family farm. Dorothy passed away in 1966. In 1968, Frank was united in marriage to Lois Hastings Naeve. Frank had an immense love for farming and although retiring in 1988 he continued to help his sons farm whenever he could. Frank and Lois moved to Otho in 1993. They enjoyed time spent at their second home in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Frank had a soft spot for animals especially his Airedales and Cocker Spaniels, Tasha and Morgan. In his leisure time he enjoyed the outdoors, washing the car, and mowing his lawn. Frank was an active member of the Otho United Methodist Church, the Otho Betterment Committee, and the Roberts' NEW Coop Elevator Board. Survivors include his wife, Lois; children, Marsha (John) Samuelson of Gowrie; Marilyn (Stan) Berns of Carroll; Rick (Carla) Nelson; Jason (Krissan) Nelson both of Otho; step children, Rose Sielaff of Webster City; Marlinda (Rick) Muterspaugh of Sacramento, CA; and Kevin Neave of Fort Dodge; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded by his parents, his first wife, and granddaughter, Melody Muterspaugh. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
