Fred V. Michalski, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Manson. Funeral services will be Saturday December 19th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home Visitation and time of prayer will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Fred is survived by his children, Christine Schumacher of Ankeny, Tim (Deb) Michalski of Clare, and Angela Clement of Fort Dodge; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emelia (Krajcik) Michalski; wife Lorena in 2016; son, Mike Michalski in 2017; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers. Fred Vincent Michalski was born September 19, 1930in Fort Dodge. He attended school and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He was employed with IC Railroad for 7 years prior to beginning his job as an over the road truck driver. He worked for Briggs Transportation for 15 years and Hyman for a number of years. He also owned and operated Fred's Conoco Gas Station for 6 years. Fred enlisted in the National Guard in 1947 and was discharged in 1957. On February 23, 1952 he was united in marriage to Lorena Hay in Eagle Grove. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Dodger Lions, and The Knights of Columbus. Fred enjoyed wood working, gardening and spending time with his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
