Rockwell City - Gary D. Doster, 71, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at home with his family at his side. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Greenfield Township Cemetery, Knierim, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating, and Military Graveside Rites by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. A Come & Go Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Gary is survived by his three sons, Dr. Craig (Jenny) Doster of Channahon, IL, Anthony (Robin) Doster of Rockwell City, and Brad (Lisa) Doster of Memphis, MO; grandchildren, Jacob Doster, Alena Doster, Sophia Doster, Lacey Wurr, Lara Wurr, Logan Wurr, Lexus Doster, Abby Doster, and Laney Doster, six great-grandchildren, Brycen, Jaxtyn, Holtyn, Esley, Noah, and Nash; brother Roger (Janet) Doster of Moorland; sister Carla Larson of Callender; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marcy; his parents, Charles and Hilda (Voss) Doster; sisters, Donna Branham and Jolene Tederman; and brother Norman Voss, along with other family members and friends. Gary D. Doster was born August 5, 1949, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended Cedar Valley Schools and graduated in 1967. Gary was drafted to the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era, where he served until receiving an honorable discharge. On January 8, 1971, he was united in marriage with Marcy L. Folkerts and they started their family. Gary worked in the agriculture business his entire life until he retired in January 2017. Gary was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his sons. Gary shared many stories and memories with his sons, family, and friends over the past few weeks. He was truly blessed and supported by all. Gary will be best known for making those he was around feel important and valued through his ability to listen and share his life experiences. His bravery during his illness was not only admirable, but commendable. He was indeed a very strong man, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life to the fullest and appreciated his many blessings. He is now reunited with Marcy and many of his family and friends. May his memory be eternal.
