Gary Eugene Cooper

Gary E. Cooper, 78, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Paul J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery where full Military Rites will be presented by the VFW Post 1856 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the funeral home, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Fort Dodge; children, Dave (Deb) Cooper of Louisburg, KS; Jeff (KoKo) Cooper of Olathe, KS; Pam (Rick) McCarville of Fort Dodge; Chris (Dan) Fuller of Papillion, NE; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Nancy House of Fort Dodge; and brothers Robert Cooper of Kingsport, TN and Randy Cooper of Hastings, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Wilma (Henley) Cooper. Gary Eugene Cooper was born on August 13, 1938 in Ottosen at his home. He was raised and educated in Ottosen, graduating from high school in 1956. He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1962. On June 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Krug in West Bend. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Gary worked in the paint business for 40 years, including 27 years with Pittsburgh Paints. In 2001, Gary retired from Iowa Paint. In his retirement Gary loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Gary enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sport's fan especially, the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Saint Edmond Gaels. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
