Rockwell City George Wilson 94, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Memorials may be left to the Wilson Family to be used for the Twin Lakes Bicycle Path. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. George is survived by his children, Ric (Marilyn) Wilson of Crofton, Nebraska, Nancy (Neil) Goos of Osceola, Jeff (Meg) Wilson of Wilmington, Delaware, and Julie (Clive) Clark of Rockwell City; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne; parents, Paul and Lura (Boyce) Wilson; and sister Doris Kruskop. George Stanley Wilson was born January 29, 1927 at Rockwell City, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School with the Class of 1944. George was first baseman on the 1942 State Championship Team. George served in the United Sates Navy during World War II. George furthered his education and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Iowa where he also lettered in basketball. On August 29, 1948, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Jeanne Wing at the United Methodist Church in Rockwell City. The couple made their home in Wayne, Nebraska for a short time before establishing their home in Rockwell City. George worked as an insurance agent for Conley - Wilson Insurance before becoming a rural mail carrier for 34 years until his retirement. Jeanne passed away in 2018. George enjoyed his children and grandchildrens activities and fostered the love of boating and family life at Twin Lakes. He will be remembered as a sweet, gentle, unselfish and loving man. George was a member of the United Methodist Church, Church Choir, Rockwell City School Board Secretary, and the Rural Mail Carriers Association.
