Rockwell City - Gerald G. Goodwin, 85, passed away Friday April 9, 2021 at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City of natural causes. A Private Family Graveside Service was held Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Jolley, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Gerald Glenn Goodwin, the son of Clyde C. and Fern (McPherson) Goodwin, was born October 7, 1935 at Rinard, Iowa. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Rockwell City High School. Gerald was united in marriage with his beloved wife, Shirley Ellis on June 27, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua Iowa. Gerald and Shirley farmed and had a grinding business in the Rockwell City area. Gerald also drove bus in Arizona during their early years, before settling in the Long Beach, California area for over 12 years, where he drove a bus for the Southern California Rapid Transit District. The couple eventually made his way back to Iowa to farm in 1978 and continued to farm until he retired and remained in Rockwell City until his passing. Gerald enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed fixing fence, the stock market, collecting coins, playing cards, riding trains, attending services at the Jolley Community United Methodist Church, and the "farm" life. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, Tucson Arizona: his sister Janyce Silva, Millikan Colorado; oldest son, Van Goodwin and his wife Donna of San Diego, California; son, Hal Goodwin of Tucson Arizona; daughter, Paula Salazar and her husband Pedro of Marana, Arizona; ten grandchildren, Kristyn Roush, Karrisa Fleming, Michael Goodwin, Keith Goodwin, Amie Lee, Claire Petersen, Joseph Salazar, Zachary Salazar, Eli Salazar and Savanna Salazar; eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn Roush, Sophia Roush, Carter Lee, Joey Goodwin, Maelyn Lee, Aubrey Fleming, Ryan Goodwin and Drew Goodwin.
