Gary (Zeke) A. Schumacher, 82, of Clare left this world unexpectedly after a farming accident on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Barnum with military rites provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday August 3 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 3:45 PM and from 9:30 AM to the start of the service at the church on Wednesday. Gary was born to Carlisle and Charlotte (McCoy) Schumacher on February 27, 1939 in Webster City, Iowa. Gary was raised and educated in the Colfax Township, outside of Duncombe. Gary was a graduate of the 1957 class at Fort Dodge Senior High School. Shortly after graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and during his time he became a member of the 101st Airborne Paratroopers. Gary was very proud of his service and was honorably discharged in 1960. After discharge he began his career in the field of agronomy which enabled him to establish many lifetime friendships in the Duncombe, Webster City, Barnum, and Clare areas. Many of these relationships continued after his retirement in 2002. Gary was united in marriage to Judith Sullivan on April 30, 1966, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Duncombe, Iowa. The couple then moved to his beloved "Knobb Hill" estate also known as "The Farm". Gary and Judy enjoyed 55 years of marriage to which 5 beautiful daughters better known as "the girls" were born. 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren followed. Gary is survived by his wife Judy "Gertie" of Clare; beloved daughters, Audra "Olga Marie" Eisen of Fort Dodge, Brenda "Gabby Sue" (Troy) Cormaney of Wright, WY, Amy "Mule" and Angie "Chuck" Schumacher of Barnum, Sarah "Julio" Schumacher of Fort Dodge. Gary enjoyed creating lasting memories with grandkids and great-grandsons on "The Farm". Those grandchildren and their children will miss him dearly; Joe (Lindsey) Eisen and Landon Moeller, Jensen Eisen all of Fort Dodge, Christopher Eisen of Indianola, Lexie (Michael) Blakney and Keegan of Aurora CO, Liz Sorber of Fort Dodge, Lydia Cormaney (Kris Cantrell) of Casper, WY, Matt (Liz) Cormaney and Riggs of Gillette, WY, D'Lo and Gabby Schumacher of Fort Dodge. Gary is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Phyllis) Schumacher of Iowa Falls, Sue Brighi of Greeley, CO, Richard Schumacher of New Virginia, IA, and brother-in-law, Fred Trask of Webster City; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins are all left to share the many stories and memories of Gary. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Norma (Chuck) Doyle, Sharyn Trask; brother-in-law, Richard Brighi and infant great-grandchild, Pace. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
