Gowrie Glen C. Mundt 97, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mundt Family will not be having a public funeral at this time. Private family graveside service will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Glen is survived by his wife Doris of Stratford; daughter Carol Mundt of Stratford; sons, Allan (Sharon) Mundt of Gowrie, and Dave (Diane) Mundt of Callender; grandchildren, Cassie (Tom) Sredl, Melissa Mundt, Amy (Josiah) Kaufman, Brian (Heather) Mundt, and Travis Mundt; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Walter, Payton Walter, Allie Kaufman, Isaiah Kaufman, Elsie Kaufman, Elijah Kaufman, Oliver Mundt, Anna Cobb, and Miles Cobb; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Marilyn K. Mundt; his parents, Ralph and Esther (Larson) Mundt; and brother Paul Mundt. Glen C. Mundt was born August 19, 1922 at Farnhamville, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Farnhamville and graduated from Farnhamville High School, with the Class of 1942. Glen served in the United States Army during World War II as an Xray Technician with the Army Medical Corps. On October 19, 1947 he was united in marriage to Doris Drayer at Doriss parents home south of Gowrie. The couple established their home on a farm north of Farnhamville. In 1958, they moved to their farm south of Gowrie. The couple farmed until their retirement in 1989 and moved into Gowrie. Glen was a member of the Lanyon Covenant Church, American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie, served on the ASC Committee, and was a past member of Farm Bureau, and NFO.
