Greg A. Spencer, 69, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 31st, 2020, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will take place at North Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include children Chad (Brenda) Spencer of Omaha, NE, Barry (Jodi) Spencer of Omaha, NE, Kelly (Kyle) Miller of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren, Tyler, Jaxon, Emma, Garrett, Ryder, and Wyatt, siblings Mickie (Bill) Messerly, Charles Spencer, Denny (Paula) Spencer, Randy (Brenda) Spencer and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Delores (Wheaton) Spencer, brothers Gary and Rick Spencer. Gregory Allen Spencer was born on May 23, 1950 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge. From 1968 to 1970, he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Fort Dodge and started his family. In 1984, Greg suffered a traumatic brain injury. With the help of Hospitals, the V.A., countless Doctors and nursing staff and especially family; Greg was able to live his life in Fort Dodge where he enjoyed riding his bike, visiting with friends, and was the best 1-line jokes teller. Greg loved his family, loved being a part of Fort Dodge and will be missed. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
