Hasson Hameed

Hasson Hameed, 77, of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away in his peaceful sleep at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home of Congestive Heart Failure. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. J. B. Newsome was born October 18, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia to Joe and Blessit P. Newsome. He attended schools in Columbus. He traveled for a few years before making Fort Dodge his home in 1969. Hasson retired from Georgia Pacific Gypsum and then worked as a CNA at different medical facilities. He loved playing pool and was great at "his game." Hasson would always greet you with a smile. He was a member of the Masonic Order; Senior Stewart of the H.C. Merriweather Lodge #46. Born J.B. Newsome, he changed his name to Hasson Hameed to reflect his religious interests. Hasson loved visiting with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Blessit (Pearl) Newsome; grandparents, Lon and Annie Newsome of Reynolds, Georgia; Carzy and Luella Durham; brothers, Lawrence; Phillip and M.B. Newsome; nephew, Daryl Cunningham and niece, Angel Hameed. Hasson is survived by his children, Jenny Wyatt; D'la Cox; Austin Collins of California; Zachery Wyatt of Fort Dodge; granddaughter, Tina Wyatt; sisters, Ida (Ken) Orr of Ooltewah, TN; Celisa A. Newsome of Fort Dodge, IA; Daimah Elois Hameed M. of Columbus, GA; brothers, Edward L. Newsome; Eugene Melvin Newsome; Jameel A. Hameed; and Wali M. Al-Hameed all of Fort Dodge, IA. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
