Herman Calahan, 67, of Otho passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 4th in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation and time of prayer will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include his long time companion Jill McCaleb of Otho, daughters Jonita McCaleb of Minneapolis, MN, Tracy Calahan of Little Rock, AR, sons Aaron Calahan of Garden City, KS, Derek Calahan of Fort Dodge, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 brothers and 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Virginia Calahan, sister Willie Rice and brother Jesse Calahan. Herman Calahan was born on July 3, 1953 in Brinkley, AR. He was raised and educated there. In the early 1970's He moved to Fort Dodge. His entire working life Herman was a heavy equipment operator until retiring due to ill health. He enjoyed following politics. Herman loved to make people laugh and was always being funny. Herman was simply the best papa the grandkids could ever ask for. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
