Irene L. Hogan

August 21, 1923 — December 14, 2015

Irene L. Hogan, 92 of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, December 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a C.D. of A. Rosary at 4:30 and a Vigil at 6:00p.m., all at the funeral home. Irene is survived by her son, Brian Hogan and his wife Mary of Coto De Caza, CA; grandchildren, Rebecca, Brian, John and Christopher; step-daughter, Patricia Steiner of Chicago, IL; eleven step-grandchildren and more than 20 step-great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Marie (Collins) Lawler; husband, Austin Hogan; brothers, Edwin and Emmett Lawler; step-sons, Rev. David Hogan, Austin Hogan, and Joseph Hogan. Irene L. Lawler was born August 21, 1923 in Clare. She was raised and educated in Clare, graduating from St. Matthew's High School. She then continued her education at Clarke College, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. Irene taught for 8 years in Fairfield, Estherville, and Fort Dodge. She then returned to college to receive her Master's in Education from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. On September 3, 1955 Irene was united in marriage to Austin Hogan at St. Matthew's Church, Clare. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Irene is a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Catholic Daughters of America. She is a retired member of the Sioux City Diocese Board, Webster County Teachers, and the Corpus Christi School Board. Irene also was a Briar Cliff College Trustee and a Fort Dodge Library Trustee. Memorials may be left to the Fort Dodge Public Library.
