Irma Machovec

Irma Machovec, 85, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 10:00 AM at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 10:30 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Patrick Behm officiating. Burial will follow at Elkhorn Township Cemetery. A visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 4:00 PM and a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Irma is survived by her sons, Keith (Ann) of Fort Dodge; Kirk (Lori) of DeWitt; Kevin (Lindsay) of Rockwell City; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and her brothers, Rev. Manuel Mejia of Maryknoll, NY; Ernest Mejia of Coon Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Leobarda (Ramos) Mejia; husband, Dorn Machovec; son, David; and sisters, Theresa Sheker and Lucy Baumbach. Irma Mejia was born December 3, 1932 in Wells, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Dorn Machovec in August 6, 1960 and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Irma worked as a cook for Trinity Regional Hospital for over 20 years. She volunteered as a Foster Grandparent serving in the Cooper, Hillcrest and Holy Rosary Elementary Schools. She was a member of Holy Trinity and the ZCBJ Lodge. Irma was a proud supporter and member of the Latino Community. Memorial may be left to the discretion of the family.
