Irven L. Ball, 84, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 at Corpus Christi with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday October 26, 2017 at the funeral home. Irven is survived by his wife, Pauline Ball of Fort Dodge; children, Doreen Coppinger (Tim) of Barnum; Colleen Riesenberg (Dave) of Manson; Kevin Ball (Kimberly); Michael Ball (Nancy) both of Arlington, TX; DeAnne Yetmar (Doug) of Clare; Maria Leslie (Lester) of Appomattox, VA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, William Ball of Webster City; Melvin Ball of Cajon, CA; Bernard Ball of Odessa, TX; and sisters, Lavonne Smart of Des Moines; Ina Schwandt of Iowa Falls; and Marcella Shipman of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (Schwering) Ball; granddaughters Olivia and Jessica Ball; grandson, Shane Ball; brothers, James Jr.; Thurlow; and Donald Ball; and sister, Mary Evelyn Halligan. Irven L. Ball was born May 25, 1933 in Webster City. He was raised and attended schools in the Webster City/Duncombe area. He served in the United States ARMY from December of 1953 through November of 1955. On July 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Pauline Miklo at St. Matthews in Clare. The couple established their home in Duncombe. They then moved southwest of Humboldt. They farmed in the Clare and Duncombe area until 1964. Irven then worked for New Coop for 20 years and then 13 years for Huber; until retiring from there in 1995. For the past 19 years, he was employed with R & J Materials. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Irven will be remembered as a kind man with a gentle spirit. Memorials may be left to Holy Trinity Parish and Saint Edmond Catholic Schools.
