Jameel Colby Redding - Pettigrew

Jameel Colby Redding Pettigrew, 15, of Fort Dodge passed away July 4, 2023. Private Family services will be held Monday, July 17, 2023 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Jameel was a fun loving and creative individual who brought joy to those around him. He was born March 31, 2008 to Lavita Pettigrew and Doug Redding II. He was a beloved brother to Malik Pettigrew, Lashae Pettigrew, DJ Pettigrew and a cherished nephew to Jay Redding, Lucious Jackson, Lyric Jackson, Lee Thomas, Kavita Thomas and Keith Pettigrew. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Barbara Ann Buckner, James Pettigrew, Albert Sievert, Lois Seivert and Walter Naylor as well as his uncle Leeander Pettigrew and cousin Colby Pettigrew. Jameel attended Butler Elementary and Fort Dodge Middle School before continuing his education at Fort Dodge Senior High School. He had a passion for cooking and worked as a cook at Tom Thumb. Known for his dedication, Jameel would even come in just to clean the smoker. In his free time, Jameel enjoyed playing board games, wrestling, toy wrestlers, drawing comic books, and playing video games. He was always up for a friendly competition and loved spending time with family and friends. Memorials in his memory can be made to a charitable organization of your choice. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His vibrant spirit and kind heart will be remembered forever. May he rest in peace.
