James A. Hanson

Callender James A. Hanson 64, formerly of Callender, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Marian Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Burial will be at the Callender Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Jim is survived by his mother Betty Hanson of Fort Dodge; his brothers, Dave (Ruth) Hanson of Fort Dodge and Dan (Ranette) Hanson of Callender; four nephews; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Garland Hanson. James A. Hanson was born February 2, 1958 at Fort Dodge to Garland and Betty (Sollie) Hanson. He graduated from Prairie Community High School and received his business degree from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. Jim was a longtime employee of S. Hanson Lumber until it closed. He then worked several retail jobs in Fort Dodge until his retirement. Jim was a lifetime member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, gladly serving many board and volunteer positions. Jim was also active in the Callender Lions Club and had served on the Callender Library Board. Jim moved to health care centers due to his poor health five years ago.
