James And Linda Gottschalk

James and Linda Gottschalk passed away 20 hours within each other surrounded by their loving family at their home. Jim died on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 and Linda died on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 5th at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Otho Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the 133rd Test Squadron Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 4th from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. James and Linda are survived by their son Jim (Gwenn) Gottschalk and their children Jesse, Tricia, Caitlyn, and Chloe, daughter Heather (Jim Nicola) Gottschalk, son Dennis (Jessica) Gottschalk and their children Hannah, Emelia and Ozzie, son Jonathan (Jennifer) Gottschalk and their children, Jordan, Jazmine, and Jaysawn of all of Fort Dodge, 2 great-grandchildren, Tricia's children Zoey and Vega, Linda's sister Lena (Tom) Burger of Dawsonville, GA; and their side kicks and best friends, dogs, Chubbs and Lexie. They were preceded in death by their parents, Jim's brother, Dennis Gottschalk; and Linda's sister, Regina Myers, their niece Kris Gottschalk. James Robert Gottschalk was born November 28, 1944 to Walter and Doris (Johnson) Gottschalk. Linda Marie Beaver was born June 13, 1947 to Floyd and Martha (Griffis) Beaver. Both being born in Fort Dodge, they attended schools here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Jim graduated in 1962 and Linda graduated in 1965. Jim served in the Army National Guard from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1971, while Linda attended ICCC and graduated in 1967. The couple met after high school while they were both working at the Meade Box Factory in Fort Dodge. Linda and James were married on May 11, 1968 at Riverside Methodist Church. They made Fort Dodge their home and raised their family. Jim worked in maintenance and in animal care at the Fort Dodge Animal Health and Linda was an office assistant at the Webster County ISU Extension Office. They both later retired from the Fort Dodge Animal Health. Jim and Linda were both long time 4-H Leaders and Jim was involved with the Webster County Extension Council. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a thank you to all the family and friends that were able to stop by and spend time over the past few days; especially the UnityPoint Home Health and Hospice nurses and staff. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
