Harbacheck, siblings Rachel O'Hern, Matt Harbacheck, Winifred Kaas, and his wife, Cecelia "Bobbi" Harbacheck. Jim was born August 28, 1929. He lived and worked on the farm in Moorland, Iowa and graduated from the Moorland school. From a young age, he excelled in 4-H Cattle Project, showing his cattle and earning top blue ribbons and championships. After high school, he continued raising cattle, and expanded his education by attending agriculture classes at Iowa State. During this time in his life, he enjoyed playing league baseball. Jim and Cecelia "Bobbi" Polachek were married on August 18, 1956. They made their first home in Fort Dodge, before moving back to the Moorland farm. He is survived by three children: Daria Harbacheck of Thompson, North Dakota, Troy Harbacheck of Moorland, Iowa, and Tracy (Sara) Harbacheck of Boone, Iowa; five grandchildren, Thea (Mark) Sheffert, Kasmira (Dean)Carlson, Cera Svaleson, Conrad Ressler, Christa (Curtis) Weigel, Celia (Joe) Goodman, and Kyra Harbacheck. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Ashton Karley, Valecia Sheffert, Peyton Sheffert, Simon Weigel, and Graham Goodman. Jim served active duty as a corporal in Korea. He loved telling stories about teaching and playing baseball with the local people. After his service in the Army, Jim began his career at Fort Dodge Laboratories, where he served as Union President, and retired after many years of dedicated work. He was a member and patron of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Moorland. He was proud that his family contributed to building that church, and was a generous and active part of many other church, school, and community organizations. Jim and Bobbi shared a love of animals. Together with their children, they participated in many horse and dog shows, and were very active in 4-H. Jim was Superintendent of the 4-H Horse Project for many years. They also enjoyed participating with their horses in the Dayton Rodeo and Gowrie 4th of July parades. Jim continued his involvement with horses throughout his life, racing his Thoroughbreds at Ak-sar-ben, Prairie Meadows and tri-state area race tracks. He was a member of the Arabian Horse Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association where he earned a 20-year award for raising Quarter Horses. Jim's faith was an integral part of his life. Although he will be missed by his family and his many friends, we can be comforted that he has been reunited with his loving wife, and restored to full health and happiness in heaven.
