James "JC" Carnelley, 70, of Fort Dodge died Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, July 20, 2019 at New Covenant Church with Pastor Doug Rushton officiating. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, July 19, 2019 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. James is survived by his wife, Ivy Carnelley of Fort Dodge; children, Chris (Deanna) Carnelley of Fort Dodge, Josh (Christina) Carnelley and Katie Carnelley all of Hampstead, NC; grandchildren, Alexis, Jackson, and Cohen; and sisters, Jean (Chet) Clarke of Phoenix, AZ and Peggy (Dave) Nichols of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera (Mazaika) Carnelley. James Edward Carnelley was born March 24, 1949 in Chicago. As a young boy, he and his family moved to Springfield, IL, where he attended schools and graduate from Lanphier High School. Following his education, he enlisted in the US ARMY. Upon his honorable discharge in 1972, he returned to Springfield. On August 12, 1986 he was united in marriage to Ivy Paulson and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. JC worked for Custom Builders, Heartland Communications, The Messenger and most recently Slumberland for 12 years until his retirement in 2015. JC had a love for his wife's cooking, an admiration/frustration for the game of golf, but most of all adored the friendships he made playing the sport he loved. He was a life-long Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He was extremely thankful that he was able to attend the Honor Flight. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
