James Charles Echelberger

James C. Echelberger, 72, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday May 30th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Private Graveside will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jim is survived by his children, James Lee Echelberger, Joe Echelberger (Theresa), Hope Seiler of Fort Dodge; Jay Echelberger (Erica Bell) all of Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren; companion, Dorothy Seiler; sisters, Edna Echelberger of Fort Dodge; Charlotte Schmelzer of Neosho, MO; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Weldon and Clara (Cook) Echelberger; and his grandson, Alexander Reedy. James Charles Echelberger was born on March 25, 1941 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here. Following his education Jim worked for Steibs Standard, I.B.P. plant, the Shag Yard, and later retired from Franks Auto and Truck Salvage. He was united in marriage to Janet Stephan for a period of time and the couple later divorced. Jim enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, and going to hillbilly sales.
