Gowrie James E. Sandberg 77, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at his home. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Gowrie, with Pastor Susan Rohden officiating. Burial will be at Lost Grove Township Cemetery near Harcourt. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Jim is survived by his wife Karen of Gowrie; daughter Karen (Scott) Meyer of McCormick, S.C.; son Mike Sandberg of Alleman; grandchildren, Ryley (Haley) Sandberg, Paige Sandberg, Kalena Meyer, Tessa (Caleb) Smothers, and Alexa Meyer; sister Nancy Shadwick of Decorah; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Kathy; his parents, Robert and Helen (Putnam) Sandberg; and brothers-in-law, Rob Shadwick and Richard Peterson. James Earl Sandberg was born April 20, 1945 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie Community High School, with the Class of 1963. On October 10, 1964 he was united in marriage to Kathy Peterson and the couple established their home on a farm near Lanyon. Kathy passed away in 1992. On July 31, 1993 he was united in marriage to Karen Sytsma. Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gowrie. He served on the Webster County Planning and Zoning Committee and as a Community State Bank Director in Paton.
