September 4, 1947 — August 30, 2019

James Albert Hadar, 71 of Humboldt Iowa, passed away on August 30th, 4:30am at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, IA. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 10am at the Fort Dodge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. A Celebration of Life will be held later that day from 3-5pm (Time of Sharing at 4pm) at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. The oldest of four children, Jim was born September 4, 1947 to Albert and Elizabeth Hadar in Eldora, IA. He was educated through the Iowa public school system, and graduated from Humboldt high school in 1966. He continued his studies in journalism including a summer program at Northwestern after high school, studies at the University of Missouri, University of Arizona, and University of Iowa. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 1977. While in Iowa City, he worked at ACT and the University of Iowa. While visiting his brother John in Colorado, he become interested in studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Jim was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, served in the full time ministry for 25 years, and was faithful servant of Jehovah for 43 years. Shortly after he joined the Iowa City congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, he met Bonney. They became close friends and on May 19, 1979 in Iowa City, IA, he married Bonney Katherine Lee, the love of his life. The couple lived in Iowa City and Coralville until moving to Humboldt in 1997 where Jim worked as a computer programmer and co-owner of the family business Hadar Manufacturing until he retired in 2016. Health issues were a life-long challenge for Jim and as a child and young man he struggled to remain positive. He found strength and purpose through regular, loving help from family, the deep and total commitment of Bonney to supporting him throughout their life together, and his belief in Jehovah and the promise of God's Kingdom. He is survived by daughter Persephone (Douglas) Nerge of Grayslake IL, grandchildren Andromeda and Orion, brother John (Sherry) Hadar of Laffayette CO, sister Mary (Wayne) Miner of Humboldt IA, and brother Joe (Maria) Hadar of Humboldt IA. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Bonney. Jim will be remembered for his strength of spirit and mind, fierce wit, and depth of feeling. He had a great love for God's creation, which he shared with his wife Bonney on their many adventures across the country visiting National Parks, camping, visiting friends and family, and building their "Life List" of birds. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates fan, suffering and rejoicing with them depending on the season. He loved literature and poetry, and was a great writer of letters and a poet in his own right. He never tired of reading and learning. He loved time in the ministry spreading God's word. He was a loving husband and father, son and brother, and found great joy in the later years of his life as a grandfather to Andromeda and Orion.
