James Leroy Maguire

James L. Maguire, 66, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Simpson Health Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Carney officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his son, Kurt Maguire and his wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Nikki Conrad and her husband Nathan of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Spencer and Lauren Maguire, Liam, Maggie, and Clare Conrad; sisters, Janet Henry both of Kaye Kleckner of Algona, and Coleen Brown of Livermore. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Lola Esther Stover Maguire; and his sister, Lori Maguire. James Leroy Maguire was born on August 9, 1947, in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1965. Jim then attended the local trade school for Plumbing and Steamfitters Local 33 in Des Moines. On May 25, 1968, he was united in marriage to Linda Gerard at Corpus Christi Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Jim was employed with Gadbury Plumbing and Sheet Metal until an automobile accident forced him to retire in 1983. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, riding motorcycles, hunting, NFL Football, watching his favorite NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
