Gowrie- James M. Eslick, 78. passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Gowrie Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, July 30, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. James is survived by his wife, Cheri of Gowrie; daughters, Leslie (Scott) Woody of Windsor, WI, Lori (Bruce) Long of Gowrie, Jamie (Bud) Pastrick of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Eslick, Alyssa (Kyle) Stier, Caitlin (Tony) Bernau, Tim (Tatjana) Woody, Cheyenne (Tony) Jones, and Cher Woody; 5 great grandchildren; and sister, Janice Powell of Badger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Margaret (Ackerman) Eslick; brothers Donald Eslick and Richard Eslick. James M. Eslick was born November 26, 1939 in Fort Dodge and attended Fort Dodge Schools. From 1958 to 1963, Jim served in the Iowa Air National Guard. He was united in marriage to Cherryl (Cheri) Lutz on June 4, 1960 at Barnum. Jim was employed by Fort Dodge Boat Company, Iowa Air National Guard working security and served on the Fort Dodge and Lehigh Police Dept. In 1974 the family moved to Gowrie where Jim served as Chief of Police until retiring in 1996. Jim served on the Webster County Conservation Board and the Webster County Communication Board. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and cooking. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
