James Webster

April 23, 1949 — March 6, 2022

James P. Webster, 72, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, March 18, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Township Cemetery with military rites provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Jim is survived by his wife Kittie Webster of Fort Dodge, children Ken (Jody) Anderson of Callender, Kevin (Malissa) Anderson of Huxley, Nathan (Lindsay) Webster of Cedar Falls, and Melissa (Jean Paul) Haulard of Milford; 14 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter; siblings, Sue (Dick) Eads, John (Roxanna) Webster, Tom (Carol Messerly) Webster, Barbara Anne Fitzgerald, Robert "Bob" (Marilyn) Webster, and Liz (Kurt) Stoebe; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mary Alice (Stageman) Webster, siblings, Mark Webster and Mary Schafer, and brothers-in-law Greg Fitzgerald and Mike Schafer. James Paul Webster was born April 23, 1949 in Fort Dodge. He attended Catholic schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Fort Dodge. On March 27, 1976, he was united in marriage to Kittie Prendergast at First United Methodist Church. Jim worked for Hormels and then Georgia Pacific where he retired from in 2008. Jim loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and helping out on the farm especially at harvest time. He was a jack of all trades and could fix almost anything. He was always helping anyone in need. He loved having the grandchildren around and even found a house in Milford to be close to them and help out. Their needs always came first just like it did with his children. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
