Janet Adams

March 24, 1936 — August 31, 2024

Janet I. Adams, 88, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City.


Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 5, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.


Janet is survived by her 3 children, Kirk (Diane) Adams of Fort Dodge, Pam Neubaum of Fort Dodge, and Lori (Scott) McIntire of Grinnell; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, and 1 sister.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Sven and Lois (Zupp) Hogstad, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.


Janet Irene Hogstad was born March 24, 1936, in Winnebago, MN. She graduated from Huntley High School in 1954 and attended college at Hamline University. She was united in marriage to James Adams on November 26, 1955, and the couple made their home in Fairmont, MN. The couple eventually moved to Fort Dodge where they owned and operated several businesses including selling draperies, to making signs, even selling boats. They sold Mid Iowa Sign Company and retired in 1999. The couple spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. Janet was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Club as well as First Presbyterian Church. Janet was an avid quilter. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed flower arranging and decorating her home. For a time Janet made and sold her Creating Custom Draperies. She tried her hand at golf and baked the best banana bread. Janet will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
