Jessie "Janet" Hanrahan, 87, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Pourde Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Duncombe. Visitation will be on Tuesday September 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Janet is survived by her children, Toni Scofield of Fort Collins, CO; Matthew Hanrahan of Houston, TX; Theresa Lindner of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Stephanie Harpst, Brent Lautenschlager, and Katlynn McKean; great-grandson, Joshua Linton and granddaughter, Taylor Nicholson; and her great great grandson, Chase Linton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Myrtle (Dewar) Jones; husband, Edward R. Hanrahan; and son, Mitchell Hanrahan. Jessie Janet Jones was born July 15, 1926 in Fort Dodge. She was raised in Clare, Fort Dodge, and Gowrie areas. She graduated from Gowrie Prairie View High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Edward Hanrahan on December 23, 1948 at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. For over thirty years, Janet worked for the Fort Dodge Labs retiring in August of 1991. Janet was member of Holy Trinity Parish, where she was a Eucharistic minister and she was a member of the Eagle's Club, Delta Theta Chi, China Painters Club, Bingo caller at the Senior Citizen's Center, and Janet also served with Iowa Share volunteering at the Lord's Cupboard and at R.S.V.P. serving the blind. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
