Janet L. Eggenberger

Somers Janet L. Eggenberger 73, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. As per her wishes, her body was gifted to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine for neurological research, followed by cremation and a Private Family Celebration of Life Service. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Janet is survived by her husband Stephen; sons, Joshua (Andrea) Eggenberger of Maurice, Louisiana, Russell (Jaime Maron) Eggenberger of Fort Dodge, and David (Giulia) Eggenberger of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren; stepmother Bonnie Davy of Morris, Illinois; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Charles and Norma (Djerf) Davy; and brother Duane Davy. Janet Louise Davy was born April 16, 1950 at Joliet, Illinois. She graduated from Plainfield High School, with the Class of 1968. In 1974, she received her degree from Illinois State University. On November 9, 1974 she was united in marriage to Stephen Eggenberger at Plainfield, Illinois. Janet taught physical education at Warrenville, Aurora, and Plainfield schools until her retirement in 2004. The couple later moved and established their home on a farm near Somers. Janet served on the Somers Library Board, an active member of the National Wildlife Federation, and she completed the Natural/Native Plants Master Conservation Program for Butterflies and Birds.
