Janet S. Nordin

Gowrie Janet S. Nordin 71, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Private family services are planned at Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. Janet was born July 14, 1950, in Fort Dodge to Clarence and Mildred (Schultz) Lomicka. She graduated from Prairie Community High School with the Class of 1968 and later attended cosmetology school. Janet was united in marriage to Dan Nordin on June 28, 1968. Together they operated and lived on the family farm south of Gowrie later moving into the town of Gowrie. She enjoyed her time spent in Okoboji, sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Gowrie Xi Eta Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Zion Lutheran Church where she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and led other youth activities. Janet served on the Webster County Farm Services Agency Board and the Prairie Valley School Board. She is survived by her husband Dan; children, Matt Nordin, Kriss (Jason) Nelson and Mitch Nordin; 6 grandchildren, Taylor Cloud, Justin, Erica and Collin Nordin; Taylor Nelson and Dustin Nordin; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Nelson; brother John (Patricia) Lomicka of Callender; and her sister-in-law Beth Carlon and her husband Pete of Ames.
