Janie Sue "Demetria" Togeas died March 14, 2014 after a long illness at her home in Duarte, California with family members in attendance. She was born December 29, 1950 in Fort Dodge to James and Bertha (Lovig) Togeas. Janie was baptized into the Lutheran faith and in her early teens confirmed at Saint Olaf Lutheran Church. She attended public schools in Fort Dodge, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1969. Janie moved to Southern California in 1971, and lived most of her life there in the Pasadena area, specifically Arcadia and Duarte, where her friends and colleagues knew her as Demetria. She worked as a waitress, teller, and secretary in an architectural consulting firm, book-seller and finally bookstore manager. Demetria loved books, and was an avid baseball fan, especially of baseball played by her son, Justin. She is survived by Justin of Alhambra, California, sister Cindy (Terry) Kohlhaas of LuVerne, Iowa, and brother Jim Togeas of Morris, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge in the near future. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home of Fort Dodge is in charge of arrangements.
