Jerry Eugene Dawson

Jerry E. Dawson, 77, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Simpson Health Center Friendship Haven. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Private burial will be in the Otho Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Survivors include his daughter, Jill Conrad and her husband Jeff of Fort Dodge; sons, Brad Dawson (Melissa) of Yorba Linda, CA; Neal Dawson and his wife Debbie of Placentia, CA; 7 grandchildren; and his sister, Susan Rhoadarmer and her husband Duane of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Laura (Herr) Dawson, brother, Robert Dawson; and a sister, Shirley Kennedy. Jerry E. Dawson was born on February 14, 1937 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1955. Jerry worked in restaurant management for several years, including Treloar Inn, Treloar Curb Service, Fort Dodge Country Club, Holiday Inn, and Starlight. He also owned Jerry's Restaurant for 2 years. Jerry was diagnosed with M.S. in 1970, which he fought courageously for 44 years. He was past member of the Elks Club and the Restaurant Association. Jerry belonged to First United Methodist Church, M.S. of Iowa and was active at the Fort Dodge Senior Citizens Center. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
