December 29, 1961 — June 9, 2019

Rockwell City Jill M. Austin 57, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Fr. Lynn Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell City. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Jill is survived by her husband Doyle "PeeWee"; daughter, Jenna Austin and granddaughter Arlynn Marie of Rockwell City, daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Doug LeMonds and grandchildren, Brenley, Kysen, and Kennan; sister Peggy (Danny) Brown of Ankeny; brothers, Roger (Joyce) Hammen of Ames and Philip (Shelly) Hammen of Rockwell City; sisters-in-law, DeLayne (Tom) Herbers of Carroll, and Bobbi Austin of Sioux City; brother-in-law Darlo (Janet) Austin of Sac City; nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Jarrad, Brandon, Trent (Jessica), Tara (Cory), Kaley (Byron), Brandon, Nicole, Justin (Madelaine), and Keely; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeno "Junior" and Luella "Lolly" (Haack) Hammen; brother Bruce Hammen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Bernette Austin; brother-in-law Daryl Austin; and special friend, Shari Kalkwarf. Jill Marie Hammen Austin was born December 29, 1961 at Fort Dodge. She graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1980, and graduated from La`James College in Fort Dodge. On September 1, 1984 she was united in marriage to Doyle "PeeWee" Austin at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City. The couple lived in Sac City for a short time before establishing their home in Rockwell City. Jill worked for Juvenile Corrections for many years until her retirement due to her health. As a youth, Jill enjoyed harness horse racing with her father. She also loved gardening with her brother Phil, her flowers, and riding motorcycle with her husband. Most of all, Jill loved her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
