Joan grew up in Webster City and attended school there. On August 22, 1964, Joan Dilley married Gary Jensen in Blairsburg, Iowa. During the early years of their marriage, they lived in Ellsworth, Webster City and Gowrie before establishing their home in Callender.
Joan was a homemaker and then employed by the Webster County Care Facility until she retired. Joan served as a Callender City Council Member, as Treasurer for the Senior Citizen Food Fellowship, was on the board of the Friends of the Library and on various Our Saviour's Lutheran Church committees. One of her favorite events was Food and Fellowship as she loved being around people and socializing. Joan was generous with her time and gift giving as she attended many birthday gatherings, graduation parties, baby and bridal showers for members of the community.
A life-long and passionate fan of Elvis, Joan loved all of his music and movies. Just this past summer, she enjoyed a front row seat to a performance of an Elvis impersonator. Joan also cheered for the Atlanta Braves and liked reading Tom Clancy books. She looked forward to weekly bingo games and winning York peppermint patties and Reese's peanut butter cups as prizes.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her son, Michael; her parents, Anna and Wilbur Dilley; and her brothers, Richard and Ronald Dilley.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jolene (Bill) and Kim (Carl) and her treasured grandchildren: Jensen Sandgren, Jordan (Kaylah) Rude, Dylan (Tori) Rude, Jackson Rude (Jacob Roling) and Kendall Sandgren (Anthony Zigrang). Joan's family brought great happiness to her life and were a source of pride and love.
