Joan Summers

Margaret Joan (Hollister) Summers, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away peacefully Sunday, May 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life service will be 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. A visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Joan is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick), of 63 years; children, Michele Summers; Theresa (Kenneth) Holtschlag; Paul Summers; Mark Summers; Matt Summers; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Michael Summers. Joan was born in Fort Dodge on December 21, 1933 to Paul and Mary Elizabeth Hollister. She graduated from Corpus Christi in 1952. In 1952, Joan married Dick in Oceanside, CA. They briefly resided there but returned to Fort Dodge. Joan was a lifelong parishioner of Corpus Christi Church. Joan's family was her life. She was devoted to them and they to her. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
