June 11, 1931 — February 18, 2015

Joan T. Johnson, 83, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Bickford Cottages. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Our Saviours Cemetery near Humboldt. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Joan will be dearly missed by her son, Jerry Johnson and his wife Janelle of West Des Moines; their children, Jessica Schenk and her husband Reid of Plainfield, IL; and Joshua Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; her daughter, June Easley and her husband, Alan of Fort Dodge; their children, Alicia and Lucas Easley both of Fort Dodge; great granddaughter, Audrey Schenk and her unborn sister of Plainfield, IL; her sisters, Darlene Johnson of Fort Dodge, and Marilean Kelley of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna Doyle, loving husband, Olaf Johnson; sister, Cecilia Fisher; and brother, John T. Doyle. Joan Theresa Doyle was born on June 11, 1931 in Pioneer, IA; to Leo and Anna Doyle. She was raised and educated in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School. Joan was united in marriage to Olaf Johnson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt on January 13, 1951. They had 2 children Jerry and June. The couple established their home on a farm near Gilmore City until 1997 when they moved to Fort Dodge. Joan became a resident of Bickford Cottages in 2007. Joan was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Joan was an avid reader and talented in the area of art and crafts, where she spent many years designing and painting woodcraft, painting on china plates, making porcelain dolls, including her own molds. She won several ribbons at the county fair for her showings. Joan was a loving grandmother, mother, wife, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and relatives, with whom she shared stories, laughter, and her famous strawberry and black raspberry jam. Memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice.
