Rockwell City John A. Hebert 79, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at his home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Church of Christ, Rockwell City, with Pastor Dillon Brandt officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. John is survived by his wife Mary; son Dereck Hebert of Milford; son-in-law Larry Frost of Roland; grandsons, Mark Frost, and Troy (Chrissie) Frost; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lincoln, and Taylor Frost; brothers, Steve Hebert and Jim (Brenda) Hebert, both of Fort Dodge; brother-in-law Pete Norris of Ozark, MO; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Tonya Hebert, and Deneen Hebert Frost; his parents, John "Jack" Hebert and Irene Aronson Hebert Olson; stepfather Harold Olson; father and mother -in-law, Oscar and Bonnie Surratt; sister Paula Bilek; and sister-in-law JoAnn Norris. John Albert Hebert was born March 30, 1940 at Omaha, Nebraska. John grew up in Omaha until 1954, when he moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa after his mother remarried. John served in the United States Navy from 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. On July 29, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Surratt and the couple lived in various communities in California until establishing their home in Rockwell City in 1971. John worked as a mechanic for many years at Carver Motors until his retirement. He was an active member and Deacon at the Church of Christ.
