John D. Condon, 79, of Barnum passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2020 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Barnum. A visitation will be 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m. John is survived by his wife, Patsy; children, Dennis (Jennifer) Condon of Fort Dodge; Deb (Patrick) Touhey of Niles, MI; Nancy (Jerry) Richman of Barnum; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Condon, Katherine Condon, Kristine (Josh) Howell, Kourtney Condon, Kaitlyn (Andrew) Brawley, Danny Touhey, Meg (Joe) Hora, Adam (Libby) Moeding, Lauren Moeding (Jared Benson), and Amanda Richman; siblings, Frances Ann McCarville of Casa Grande, AZ; Joseph Condon of Barnum; Mary Gongol of West Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Denise (Jeff) Condon Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Margaret (Brennan) Condon; daughter, Karen Reeder; son, David Condon and brother, Edmund Condon. John David Condon was born August 20, 1940 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Barnum; graduating from Barnum High School in 1958. On October 7, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Patricia Fitzgerald at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Barnum and the couple was blessed with five children. The couple established their home and farmed near Barnum. John began farming at a very early age and in 1971 moved to the family farm. John was a volunteer fireman for the Barnum Fire Department and a member of Holy Trinity Parish. He loved spending time with family and friends, drives to check on crops even after retiring, annual Okoboji trip, morning mass and coffee with friends and his many activities with his grandchildren. His faith and family were most important to him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to family discretion.
