John T. Black

Twin Lakes John T. Black 83, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Loring Hospital in Sac City. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Gathering Place, Twin Lakes Bible Camp, 7718 Twin Lakes Road Manson, IA 50563, with Pastor Denise Berns officiating, followed by Masonic Rites and Military Rites by Amvets Post #41 of Rockwell City. Refreshments will be served following the service. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. John is survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry C. and Helen R. (Johnson) Black; brothers, Homer, Jerry, and James Black; and sister Beth Ancona. John Trenton Black was born May 16, 1940 at Rockwell City, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1959. Following his education, John served in the United States Navy. In 1967, John served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1981 attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. Following his military career, John worked at the North Central Correctional Facility for 20 years until his retirement. John was a member of the Twin Lakes Masonic Lodge #478.
