Joseph A Michalski

Joseph A. Michalski, 76, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Elkhorn Township Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Mark Michalski of Moorland; Shelly and her husband, Wayne Mason of Fort Dodge; Matt Michalski and his wife, Sherry of Dayton; Mary Jo and her husband, Jeff Roach of Otho; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Peterson of Fort Dodge; brother, Fred Michalski of Fort Dodge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emelia (Krajcik) Michalski; infant daughter, Jody; sisters, Verionica Brown; Agnes Vincent; Cecelia Chada; Thelma Good; Grace Wafful; Norma Chada; brother, Max Michalski; and daughter-in-law, Deb Michalski. Joseph Michalski was born August 1, 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1956. On May 25, 1957 he was united in marriage to Donna DeFoe at Sacred Heart Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He was employed at Gus Glaser Meats and farmed. In 1968 he was employed for Hormels. For 22 years Joe worked for Webster County Road maintenance until his retirement. Joe enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
