Josephine Smith, 81, of Fort Dodge, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor Leroy Johnson officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Josephine is survived by her husband, Willie; children, Bobby Joe Smith of Commerce, TX; Betty Lou Thedford of Cedar Rapids; Phyllis Grady of Des Moines; Cynthia Jones of St. Paul, MN; Belinda Smith-Clark of Fort Dodge; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Mildred Myers and Spence Kirsey, both of Gary, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Collin and Luvenia (Boland) Kirsey; daughters, Willie Jean; Elaine Smith; and brothers, Alex and Willie Kirsey; and sister, Zell Hunter. Joesphine Kirsey was born February 19, 1935 in Quitman, MS and was raised there. She was united in marriage to Willie Smith on May 8, 1953 in Quitman. The couple moved to Fort Dodge and has lived there since. Josephine was a member of Second Baptist Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
