Somers Joyce A. Erritt 79, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Manson, Iowa. Private Family Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Allan Redenius officiating. Burial of casket will be at Cedar Township Cemetery near Rinard. A Public Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Joyce is survived by her son Jeff (Dess) Erritt of Somers; daughter Teresa (Adam) Dickinson of Webster City; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Judy) McKenney of Somers, and Kenneth (Kelly) McKenney of Otho; brother-in-law Andy Birkland of Somers; sister-in-law Janet Bird of Somers; brother and sister-in-law, John and Carole Erritt of Somers; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon "Gus" Erritt; parents, Myrl and Virginia Good McKenney; infant brother Duane; sister Janice Birkland; and brother-in-law Daniel Bird. Joyce A. McKenney was born January 21, 1941 at Logan, Iowa. She graduated from Cedar Valley Schools. On February 24, 1962 she was united in marriage to Gordon "Gus" Erritt at the Somers United Methodist Church in Somers. The couple made their home on a farm near Somers and farmed for most of their lives. Joyce also worked at American State Bank, the JC Penny Co., and was a librarian for the Somers Library until her retirement. Gus passed away in 2018. Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star, and the Somers United Methodist Church.
