Juanita Burrell

July 18, 1932 — September 17, 2014

Juanita Marie (Harris) Burrell, 82, formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa after a long illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A visitation will begin 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Juanita was born on July 18, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Hawkins) Harris. She was raised and educated in South Bend, Indiana and she attended Butler University in Indiana. Juanita united in matrimony to Gettis J. Burrell Jr. on February 28, 1954. This union was blessed with two sons, Dwane Kurtis Burrell and Craig Alan Burrell. She retired from 1st Citizens Bank of Michigan City, Indiana after many years of dedicated service and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Michigan City, Indiana Surviving is her son Craig (Julie) of Fort Dodge, Iowa, four grandchildren LaToshia, Tonia, Dwanna (Jerome) Walton and Dwaron Williams; four great grandchildren Unique "Nina", Dwante, Ava, Miles; very special nieces Kim Day, Cathy Ward, Joy Cotton, and Donna Cawley; special cousins, Pearl Ann (Harris) Findley, Melvin, David, Bobby Joe, Bruce Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Dwane, her sister Marjorie Jean Willis, and her beloved husband Gettis. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the family of Juanita.
