Judith A. Olson, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Sunny Knoll Care Center in Rockwell City, Iowa. Judy was born December 3, 1942, to Gunnar and Helga (Lehtonen) Johnson in Two Harbors where she grew up and graduated from Two Harbors High School with the Class of 1960. She was employed by the DM&IR Railway as a telephone operator for several years and later earned her bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She married Anthony "Tony" Olson on September 9, 1966 and they raised a family in Two Harbors during which Tony worked for the telephone company. Tonys last position with the telephone company led them to Rockwell City, Iowa in 1992 before he retired in 1993. Tony & Judy made their retirement home in Rockwell City, but traveled as snow birds to Alamogordo, New Mexico each spring until Tonys passing in 2011. Judy enjoyed knitting, playing cards (especially bridge) and golf. She volunteered her accounting talent and skill with numbers in many ways throughout the years, including but not limited to a tax preparer, congregate meals, bookkeeper for a couple of churches, a golf course and the THHS All-Class Reunion in 1982. She volunteered with the food shelf, church council and adult illiteracy programs. She quietly and anonymously helped those less fortunate in many other ways as well. Judy was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors and a member of the VFW womens auxiliary Post 49 in Rockwell City. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years (Tony) in 2011 and her sister, Carol Peterson in 2021. Judy is survived by her son Steve (Stacy) Olson of Two Harbors; daughter Becky (Ken) Osland of Lino Lakes, MN; foster son Karl (Dawn) Oman of Duluth; grandchildren, Madison Olson, Anthony "Tony," Kennedy, and Michaela Osland; brothers Larry "Gunner" (Vicki) Johnson and Scott (Francine) Johnson both of Two Harbors; special friends Bob Blasey and Rachel Bawden both of Rockwell City; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation: 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 1 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors, immediately followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors.
