Karen A Moffet

Karen A. Moffet, 66, of Otho passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will take place at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 Sunday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with a C.D.A. Rosary beginning at 2:30. Karen is survived by her husband, Dennis; son, Darin Nelson(Shari) of Adel; step-children, Cecilia Shellnut (Joe) of Manhattan, KS; Crystal Sawyer (Brian) of Wathena, KS; Denise Sica (Rick) of Greenwood, IN; Marvin Moffet (Billie) of Randall; Matt Moffet (Susan) of Des Moines; eighteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Darold Nelson of Fairfield, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annie (Meister) Nelson; sister, Linda Jones; brothers, Don and Duane Nelson. Karen Ann Nelson was born November 2, 1948 in Lake City. She was raised in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School in 1967. On November 23, 1981 Karen was united in marriage to Dennis Moffet. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Karen worked for Trinity Regional Medical Center for 37 years until her retirement in 2011. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, VFW Post 1856 Auxiliary, and Catholic Daughters of America. In 2011, Karen and Dennis made their home in Otho. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
