Karen J. Ulrich, 60, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12th, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A Prayer service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Peace Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery. Karen is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Rod) Schiltz of Fort Dodge; Andrea (Dan Morford) Holst-Andrews of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Taylor Roberson, Lexi Andrews, and Kolton Schiltz; step-grandchildren, Alanna Schiltz and Taegan Ekis; mother, Greta Yetmar of Clare; and her sisters, Susan, Kathleen, and Marcia. She was preceded in death by her father Charles D. Ulrich; grandparents, Gladys and Bill Ulrich; step-father, Patrick Yetmar; and infant sister, Laura. Karen J. Ulrich was born on October 4, 1956 in Fort Dodge. She was raised in Clare and graduated from Northwest Webster High School of Barnum in 1974. Karen was united in marriage to Edward Holst on July 26, 1974 in Perry, IA. The couple established their home and lived in Perry until moving to Fort Dodge in 1989. Karen worked various jobs including, Northwoods Living, Eddies Greenhouse, Iowa Water Proofing System, and the Best Western Starlite. She had been helping her daughter, Michelle at her daycare until becoming ill. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
