Karen K. Halverson, 73, of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home due to complications from emphysema. Karen deeded her remains to the University Of Iowa Carver College Of Medicine. At her request, there are no other services planned at this time. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Karen is survived by her three daughters, Renee Davis of Omaha, NE; Dawn Nolta of Fort Dodge, IA; Lisa (Shawn) McCampbell of Waverly, IA; five grandchildren, Corey Nolta of Waterloo, IA; Justin Nolta of Milford, IA; Nicholas McCampbell of Jay, VT; Jacob McCampbell of Waverly, IA; Lauren Davis of Omaha, NE; siblings, Richard Nelson and Ronald (Nancy) Nelson, both of Fort Dodge, IA; Donna (Don) Godwin of Duncombe, IA; and Linda (Carl) Fenn of Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Faye (Johnson) Nelson; and her sister, Jean Purkapile. Karen Kae Nelson was born October 14, 1942 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in the Dayton and Lehigh area. In 1960 she graduated from East Central High School in Burnside. Apart from living and raising her daughters in Hamilton, MT, Karen resided in the Fort Dodge area. She was Assistant Manager with Casey General Stores for 23 years until retiring in 2010.
