Karen Kay Hammen- Lee, 75, of Otho passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 9th, in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Snook officiating. Burial will be at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cemetery in Moorland. A visitation will be TODAY 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Karen is survived by her children, James D. Hammen II (Laurie) of Dansville, NY; Janice K. Nimrod (Richard) of Virginia Beach, VA; Kimberly R. Anderson (Rob) of Marion; Kyle M. Hammen (Nicole) of Shell Rock; 4 grandchildren; brother, Larry D. Trampel of Oklahoma City, OK; Allen Trampel (Sue) of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Pamela Allen (Robert) of Gilmore City; and her Goddaughter, Christine Degner (Brian) and their 4 children, in Rockport, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, John "Andrew" and Dorothy (Kinsinger) Trampel and husbands, James D. Hammen and Fredric R. Lee. Karen Kay Trampel was born August 19, 1942 in Williams, Iowa. She graduated from Williams High School in 1959. On April 25, 1964, Karen was united in marriage to James D. Hammen at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pomeroy. The couple established their home and farmed in Jolley. In 1973, the couple established their home on an acreage in Otho. Karen worked part time for a number of years at New Coop during harvest. In 1993, the couple moved into the town of Otho. James passed away in 1999. On February 23, 2001, Karen married Fredric Lee. The couple lived in Otho. Fred passed away in 2013. Karen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Otho and active in the Otho Bible Study. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and sewing. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
