Karen Harms, 55, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Henderson, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran church, officiating. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral Home. Karen is survived by her husband, Scott; son, Myles Michehl of Fort Dodge; mother, Marguerite Cassen and brother, Gordon Cassen of Lehigh. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Roy Cassen. Karen Cassen was born June 8, 1959 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1977. She then attended Iowa Central Community College where she received her Medical Assistant Degree. On September 5, 1981 Karen married Tim Michehl at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The couple later divorced. Karen worked as a medical assistant at the Kersten Clinic, for Dr. John Calisesi Chiropractic, and for Medical Arts Eyecare with Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Lenane. Karen married Scott Harms on January 12, 2012 and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Karen loved motorcycles, especially trips to the mountains on them. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Karen also was a fan of stock car races. Most of all, Karen enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
