Rockwell City Karene S. Kraft 82, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at the Church of Christ, Rockwell City, with Rev. Jeff Kraft officiating. Burial of casket will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Karene is survived by her children, Marilyn (Ronald) Thompson of Rockwell City, Richard Kraft of Rockwell City, Lori (Julius) Zamora of Brooklyn, New York, and Ronnie Kraft of Des Moines; 6 grandchildren, Jake, Molly, Shelby, Michael, Kylar, and Kade; sister-in-law, Betty Hastings of Reno, Nevada; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; and parents, Dale and Eleanor Davenport Coate and brothers, Lincoln Coate, and Dale Hastings. Karene Sue Coate Kraft was born April 7, 1936 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. Following her education, Karene worked at the Union Pacific Railroad. On November 4, 1961 she was united in marriage to Richard Kraft at the Assembly of God Church in Council Bluffs. The couple established their home in Rockwell City. Karene worked at various businesses including Globe Union, JC Penny, and retired from the Calhoun County Extension Office after 20 years of service. Richard passed away in 2007. Karene was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, Rockwell City.
